Calgary, AB, November 28, 2022: Martin Newby Consulting Ltd. (MNC) is pleased to announce that they have been chosen to create a national digital cadastre for the island of Barbados. This project will ultimately be used to help improve economic development and social improvement.
The Government of Barbados (GOB) is looking to modernize their land administration processes starting with the creation of a national cadastre; the National Digital Parcel Fabric (NDPF). The goal of the NDPF project is to create a single, complete, trusted, and sustainable digital cadastre for Barbados. This project is being executed through the ministerial unit responsible for implementing Barbados’ Public Sector Modernization Programme – the Programme Execution Unit within the Ministry of Industry, Innovation, Science and Technology (MIST). The GOB’s Lands and Surveys Department, the local subject matter expert, is also providing general project management and technical guidance.
MNC was selected to provide the services, including but not limited to project management, creating, and populating an ArcGIS Pro parcel fabric data model for Barbados, creating over 123,000 land parcels, and training support in Esri’s ArcGIS Pro parcel fabric for the GOB team.
MNC in collaboration with GOB started this project on August 31, 2022. Esri’s ArcGIS Pro was the technology chosen to create the parcel fabric. The teams have been fully engaged and cohesively working together to complete the first of five project milestones.
The MNC team looks forward to delivering the NDPF to Barbados, which will be the foundation for a land information platform to support GOB’s policies with respect to economic development and social improvement through land and housing.
