ArcGIS Pro Migration

MNC ArcGIS® Pro Migration Services are designed to help land administration organizations efficiently and seamlessly transition from legacy ArcMap workflows to the modern ArcGIS® Pro platform. This transition not only modernizes your GIS infrastructure but also unlocks advanced capabilities, including those in GeoAI, to drive deeper insights and automation.

ArcGIS® Pro, by Esri, is the premier desktop GIS tool for professionals, offering advanced map authoring, advanced analysis (including Geo-AI-powered analytics), data visualization, extensibility, and complete integration with your broader ArcGIS® system environment through a named user licensing model.
ArcMap, the predecessor to ArcGIS® Pro, entered the Mature Support phase of its product life cycle in March 2024, which marked the end of software updates and patches. Migrating to ArcGIS® Pro is essential to maintain managed, supported, and secure land records systems and to leverage emerging technologies such as GeoAI to enhance operations.

Our Migration Services for Land Administration Include:

Frequently Asked Questions

What is ArcMap and why is it being retired?

ArcMap is Esri's legacy desktop GIS application in use since the late 1990s. In March 2026 Esri officially retired ArcMap meaning no further software updates, patches, or security fixes will ever be issued. Organizations still running ArcMap are operating on unsupported software, creating growing security exposure and locking them out of the AI and machine learning tools built into ArcGIS Pro.

ArcGIS Pro is Esri's modern 64-bit desktop GIS platform with a redesigned interface, native 3D mapping, Python 3 scripting, deeper integration with ArcGIS Online and Enterprise, and full access to Esri's AI and machine learning toolset. Map documents from ArcMap (.mxd files) need to be converted to ArcGIS Pro format (.aprx) as part of the migration, a process MNC plans and manages to preserve existing cartography and workflows.

MNC inventories all existing geoprocessing tools, Python scripts, and ModelBuilder models, then assesses and converts each one to work with ArcGIS Pro and Python 3. Some tools migrate automatically; others need to be rewritten or replaced. MNC provides a complete conversion plan and effort estimate before migration begins, so there are no surprises.

ArcGIS Pro has a different interface and workflow structure from ArcMap, so some retraining is required. All MNC migration projects include a change management and training component using your organization's own data and real-world scenarios. Most teams are fully productive in ArcGIS Pro within a few weeks of focused training.

Organizations still running ArcMap face three compounding risks: security vulnerabilities from software that will never be patched, inability to access Esri's newer capabilities, including all GeoAI and machine learning tools and increasing incompatibility as operating systems continue to evolve.

Combining ArcGIS Pro migration with workflow redesign is the approach MNC recommends. Migrating tools and scripts as-is simply replicates ArcMap workflows on a new platform and misses the opportunity to modernize inefficient processes. MNC redesigns workflows to leverage ArcGIS Pro's automation and GeoAI capabilities during the migration, delivering a significantly better operational outcome.

ArcGIS Pro is the gateway to Esri's full AI and machine learning toolset, including deep learning tools for automated feature extraction, classification, and spatial analysis. ArcMap has no access to these capabilities whatsoever. Migrating to ArcGIS Pro is not just a software upgrade; it is the prerequisite for every AI-enabled land administration workflow that MNC can help you build.
